Free & Structured Play

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

After coming inside and washing their hands, children jump back into playtime! This flexible period allows for a mix of child-led activities, structured learning, and one-on-one support. We work on individual skills through planned activities or incorporate learning naturally into everyday play.

Lunch

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Before lunch, children help clean up their play areas and prepare for mealtime. We encourage everyone to sit together, enjoy their food, and share quiet conversations with friends. Learn more about our menu options.

During lunch, we introduce a fun fact and a conversation question to encourage curiosity, communication, and social skills. Children also vote on a book to enjoy during storytime and a movie for rest time.

Nap & Rest Time

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

We begin rest time by reading the children’s chosen book aloud. After storytime, children can nap, rest quietly, or enjoy a movie while everyone has an opportunity to recharge for the afternoon.

Free Play

After rest time, children ease back into the afternoon with free play. They can choose from puzzles, board games, table manipulatives, dramatic play, and building blocks. Educational songs and music continue to make learning fun through play.

The Importance of Free Play

At Cubs n’ Chaos Daycare, we believe play is more than just fun—it’s one of the most important ways young children learn and grow. Free play gives children the freedom to explore their interests, use their imaginations, make discoveries, and learn at their own pace in a safe and supportive environment.

We value child-led play because it allows children to take the lead in their learning. Whether they are building with blocks, solving puzzles, playing pretend, exploring sensory materials, or spending time outdoors, every play experience offers an opportunity to develop important life skills.

Learning Through Play

Free play supports many areas of early childhood development, including:

⟡ Cognitive Development: Encourages problem-solving, critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity.

⟡ Language & Communication: Builds vocabulary and communication skills through conversations, storytelling, and imaginative play.

⟡ Social & Emotional Growth: Helps children practice sharing, cooperation, patience, empathy, and navigating emotions.

⟡ Physical Development: Strengthens fine and gross motor skills through hands-on activities, movement, and outdoor exploration.

⟡ Imagination & Independence: Encourages children to express themselves, make choices, explore new ideas, and build confidence in their abilities.

Our Approach to Play

At Cubs n’ Chaos Daycare, we believe in finding a healthy balance between free play, structured activities, and outdoor exploration. We provide a variety of engaging materials and experiences while allowing children the time and freedom to discover what interests them most.

Our role is to create a supportive environment where children feel comfortable exploring, experimenting, asking questions, and learning through everyday experiences. We also use play as an opportunity to connect with each child individually, encourage new skills, and support their unique developmental needs.

Did you know that between the ages of 2 and 5, children ask an average of 40,000 questions?

We embrace the wonderful chaos of childhood because some of the most meaningful learning happens when children are simply given the freedom to play.

Our View on Technology

At Cubs n’ Chaos Daycare, we believe technology can be a wonderful tool for supporting children’s learning and development when used thoughtfully and in moderation. However, we also believe it is important to be mindful of the content children are exposed to and the amount of screen time they receive.

We do not allow overstimulating content or “brain rot” videos, as we prioritize meaningful learning experiences, imaginative play, creativity, and real-world social interactions. To help maintain a consistent and engaging environment, outside toys and personal electronic devices, including tablets, are not permitted at daycare.

Our goal is to create a balanced environment where technology, when used, serves a purpose while hands-on exploration, active play, and meaningful connections remain at the heart of each child’s day.

Resting is for Everyone

At Cubs n’ Chaos Daycare, we believe rest is an important part of a child’s day! After a busy morning filled with learning, playing, and exploring, children need time to slow down, recharge, and reset. This supports their overall well-being by helping them regulate their emotions, improve their mood, and prepare for continued learning and play throughout the afternoon. We understand that every child is different, and while some little cubs need a nap, others may simply need a quiet break.

Our rest time takes place daily from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We begin by gathering together for a story, allowing children to settle in and enjoy a calm moment before resting. After storytime, children are given the opportunity to nap, relax quietly, or enjoy a calm movie while their friends rest.

We strive to create a peaceful, comfortable environment where children can rest according to their individual needs without pressure to fall asleep. Our goal is to ensure every little cub has the opportunity to recharge, feel refreshed, and finish the day feeling happy, comfortable, and ready for more adventures!

Little hands can accomplish big things!

Craft time is about more than creating adorable artwork to take home—it’s an opportunity for children to build important skills, explore their creativity, and gain confidence in their abilities. Through hands-on crafts, children are strengthening hand muscles, improving hand-eye coordination, and developing dexterity.

Craft time also encourages creativity, problem-solving, patience, following directions, and self-expression. Children are given opportunities to make choices, experiment with different materials, and create something that is uniquely their own. We focus on the process of creating rather than perfection, celebrating each child's individual efforts and accomplishments. Their finished artwork can be brought home to share with family or displayed in their very own personalized art frame.

We also love incorporating hands-on learning into snack time whenever possible! From simple food-preparation activities to creative projects involving different textures, shapes, and colors, learning can happen in the most unexpected ways.

Helping little hands grow stronger, little minds grow brighter, and little cubs grow more confident—one creation at a time!
